The ferry between Kaupanger and Gudvangen used to pe a part of the national road system in Norway. It started in 1875. After the tunnel from Lærdal to Aurland opened in year 2000 the ferry was discontinued, and started up as a tourist route in the summer time. The tourist ferry was operated from the company Fjord1 from 2000 until 2014. In 2015 Fjord2 took over the operation with great sucsess. Fjord2 was sold to "The Fjords" in November 2017, and bookings are now made by Visit Flam.

Fjord1 and Norled operates most of the ferries in FjordNorway. For information about other time schedules please visit their websites.
